Volunteers
Volunteers are a wonderful resource for HFHV, with many skilled and enthusiastic volunteers from local areas, as well as expatriate volunteers committed to working with HFHV to support the organization. The engagement of volunteers serves not only to further increase the awareness of the need in Vietnam but also fosters the value of being engaged and supporting the community you live in. Our many volunteers have been involved in projects including reviewing administrative systems, providing technical advice and support; developing and creating efficient systems; mentoring and training local staff.
One volunteer partnership based around technical advice is that with Engineers Without Borders Australia. The student interns who come to Vietnam for 8-10 weeks provide direct technical support to the ongoing HFH Vietnam projects in the form of research, exploration of innovative technologies and capacity building. Previous projects have included housing design, water and sanitation technology, environmental engineering, construction law and sustainable building. More information about their Habitat for Humanity Vietnam Partnership can be found at www.ewb.org.au/hfhv.
