June 5 marks World Environment Day‘s annual recurrence. Habitat for Humanity Vietnam wishes to encourage increased awareness of the worldwide need for positive environmental action. On this day, people from all walks of life come together to organize pro-environment activities such as tree planting or clean-up campaigns.

The time has come again for communities around the world to honor our planet on the occasion of Earth Day celebrated on 22 April each year. This day was first organized in 1970 to promote ecology as well as to encourage awareness and appreciation for Earth’s natural environment. Gradually, due to the growing of air, water and soil pollution, this day too recognizes a collective responsibility to achieve a just balance among the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations of humanity.

Habitat for Humanity Vietnam (HFH Vietnam) and Siam Cement Group (SCG), on April 10 has announced winning designs of the competition “Sustainable shelter in an age of climate change and disasters” for Vietnamese architect students. The contest aims to search for creative yet practical housing solutions which can help low income families prone to disasters in the Mekong delta region to have a sustainable and disaster-resilient house with limited budget, thus providing a chance for architect students to improve their skills, and also to raise public awareness of sustainable development.

Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity Vietnam! Join hands in the Mekong Big Builds to bring new homes and new hope to many families!

HFH Vietnam with its local partners will assist low-income families in Tien Giang province to finance and build decent homes and sanitation facilities to help break the cycle of poverty.  Located south of Ho Chi Minh City, the province is affected by climate change and prone to disasters such as flooding and drought. Many families, who are living from hand-to-mouth, have hardly any money to make house repairs after disasters, let alone have savings to build secure, safe homes. From August 4 to 10, the Mekong Big Builds will bring Habitat international volunteers & partner families together to build 25 new homes in Tien Giang province.
