Habitat for Humanity's flagship publication goes social for its annual photo contest

ATLANTA (May 19, 2014) – To recognize the power of visual storytelling, Habitat for Humanity's flagship publication Habitat World launched its annual photo contest today on the social media platform Instagram, where participants from around the world are encouraged to submit photos that capture Habitat's mission and impact.

 

This year's "Editor's Choice" winner will be awarded a volunteer opportunity during the 2014 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, held Oct. 5-11 in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. This year's contest also features a new category, "Viewer's Choice," in which a second winner will be awarded a $100 gift card to the Habitat online store.

 
More than 800,000 people took part in Habitat for Humanity Youth BUILD 2014

Bangkok, 3rd May 2014 –More than 800,000 people took part in Habitat Youth BUILD activities. Spread across 11 countries in Asia, young people took action, raised money and increased awareness of the poverty housing situation in the region.

 

“The support for Habitat Youth BUILD 2014 is amazing and inspiring. More than 800,000 young people have built homes, painted community centers, sung songs, flash mobbed, collected donations on streets, cleaned neighborhoods, wrote pledges, marched to rallies, and more – all to draw attention to, and tackle, the issue of substandard housing,” said Rick Hathaway, Habitat for Humanity vice president for Asia-Pacific.

 

“Moving into a decent home breaks the cycle of poverty, leading to better health, and improved education and employment opportunities. Young people across Asia are determined to help people make that break and create a world where everyone has a decent place to live,” continued Hathaway.

Habitat for Humanity Vietnam Joins Worldwide Celebration Of Habitat’s 800,000th Home Milestone

 

Ho Chi Minh City, 7thNovember 2013 – Habitat for Humanity marked a major milestone Nov. 6 when it began construction of the 800,000th home that the organization has built, rehabilitated or repaired around the world since it was founded in 1976. The home is being built by Atlanta Habitat for Humanity in the US.

 

Habitat for Humanity Vietnam is among the more than 70 Habitat entities worldwide that have made this milestone possible, having built, renovated or repaired over 11,400 houses since its founding in 2001.

 

 
Universal Children’s Day on November 20th - A day to cherish children globally

 

Ho Chi Minh City, November 20th, 2012. As the world commemorates Universal Children’s Day, Habitat for Humanity Vietnam joins with global communities to promote children’s welfare and children’s rights.

 

On this occasion, HFH Vietnam welcomes initiatives to celebrate this day and draw particular attention to children’s rights.
